Sounds like you had a real lemon on the line with this. I have had several similar contacts with groups saying they are in Texas, California and Canada. I usually use the free offers for something simple as I only do very simple in house and I am glad to get a freebee. I get various quality but usually okay after some changes. I usually have to settle for DST and so do not continue to use them. However, while you get what you pay for, not all off shore groups are either incompetent or less than forthright ("dishonest"). If you can find a dependable group somewhere in China which does good work, it is hard to pay several times the price for Made in USA. It is a world market now, I am concerned about quality and honesty rather than locale.

You have a good idea and I thought I would add to it an alternative that you might benefit from in the now...when you are in the Vertex Select Tool, you can hold the (CTRL) key down and click on just the anchor points that you wish to select.

If you have a lot of anchor points, try using the Reduce Nodes foind in the right click menu and then reselect the anchor points to edit.

Make sure you also explain the "old fashioned" semiautomatic way of digitizing small letters. I recommend you to load one TTF to explain block type example using for ex Arial or Avant Garde and another example with a font that has serifs for ex. Rockwell Bold or Times New Roman.

When doing very small text heights, make sure you will end up with column widths of at least 1 mm. In order to achieve that, you can use the Offset Tool which is really great to widen shapes.

Make sure to explain the gridlines at the bottom and top of text. They should be 0.2 mm in order to compensate round letters vs. straight letters.

Good luck for your seminar
