Make sure you are signed into the community to see all of the forums and blogs available. If your user name is displayed in the upper right hand side of the screen, then you are already signed into the community. If you do not see your user name, and you see the link sign in, click the sign in link and enter your user name and password to sign in to the community.

when I click on the sign in area nothing happens

I think you may be already signed in. In the very top of the screen on the right hand side, it would say "Sign In" or "Sign out". If it says Sign Out, it means you are already signed in. Let me know if you have any problems getting around the site.
